Cecil Lamar Parnell

Cecil Lamar Parnell, age 92, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday July 31, 2018. Cecil was born January 14, 1926 in Hermitage, Arkansas to Carl Edward Parnell and Florence Gorman Parnell. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a master carpenter and "a gifted tomato gardner." He was a man of God, always faithful to his church.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nellie Dean Parnell; sister Imogene Taylor; children and their spouses: Donnie and Susie Parnell, James and Grace Parnell, Stephen Parnell; grandchildren: Jaimie Gaas, Jason Parnell, Stephanie Lira, Kimberly Martin and great-grandchildren: Vennessa Jenkins, Wyatt Gaas, Cody Gaas, Jordan Whitehead, Kameron Lira, Easton Parnell, Caidyn Parnell, Rilyn Andrews, Konner Lira.

A visitation for Cecil will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. The funeral service will be Friday, August 3, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are Patrick Lira, Evan Jenkins, Jeff Gaas, Erwin Ramirez, Wyatt Gaas and Cody Gaas.
