

Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, she was known to her family as “Rachel” and to her friends as “Pat” She will be missed by all with whom she came in contact.
She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha at the University of Tennessee and was active in the Pensacola Alumnae chapter. She was a strong supporter of the GOP and served as precinct chairperson in Escambia County. She was also a world traveler with a particular affinity for Spain. Ted Williams was her favorite ball player and Bridge was her favorite card game. She was a remarkably active and energetic woman through all her years, and was devoted to her family and to her country.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John P. and Josephine R. Kavanagh; four brothers and one sister; and her husband, Charles Ray Ownbey (1916-1987). She is survived by her son, Stephen Ownbey; her daughter, Ana Davis and husband Ronnie; her grandchildren, Stephanie Veal and Patrick Pase; and her great-grandchildren, Joy Pase, Casey Hoppe-Veal, Rebekah Pase and Jake Hoppe.
Her earthly remains will forever rest in the Gulf of Mexico, a place that has brought much happiness to her and to her family for many years.
The family extends special thanks to Eagle’s Trace Home Health Services, Memorial Hermann Hospital-Memorial City, and Memorial Hermann Hospice for easing the pain and suffering of her final days.
Family and friends gathered for a memorial service in celebration of Cecile’s life yesterday afternoon in the Creative Arts Center at Eagles Trace in Houston.
