Cecilia Derkowski

Cecilia Zientek Derkowski, 93, passed away August 28, 2016. Born on November 18, 1922 in Chappell Hill, TX to Anton and Julia Twardowski Zientek. A devoted Catholic, Cecilia joined Christ the King Catholic Church in the 1950s and enjoyed singing with the choir and serving in the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward Joseph Derkowski, her brothers, Steve and Joe Zientek, her sisters, Annie Krolczyk, Theresa Wisnoski, Maggie Reynolds, Martha Ognowski, and Ester Ashley.

Cecilia is survived by her daughters, Cinthia Kopinitz (Johnnie), Denise Phillips (Terry), Glinda Bancroft, Peggy Markowski (Randy), Penny Derkowski, and Sharon Hogg (David), and her brothers Tony Zientek and Charles Zientek and sisters Dorothy Crigler, Emily Heisler, Stephanie DeVore, Julia Collins, and Edwina Kilmer. Mema was a loving grandmother to her ten grandchildren Kim Holik (John), Kristin Baggett, Angie Phillips, Ryan Bancroft, Julie Fike (Patrick), Karen Barton, Sean Bancroft, Melanie Markowski, Kyle Bancroft and Jeff Markowski, as well as nine great-grandchildren, Madison and Alyssa Holik, Cooper and Kori Baggett, Dillan, Carson and Ava Fike, and Joshua and Konnor Barton.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home with the rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 10:00 am, with lunch following Mass at Roemer Hall. Interment will be at 1:30 pm pm at Forest Park Lawndale.

Pallbearers are grandsons Ryan, Sean and Kyle Bancroft and Jeff Markowski and sons-in-law Johnnie Kopinitz, Terry Phillips, Mike Bancroft, Randy Markowski and David Hogg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Christ the King Catholic Church Building Fund.
