Celeste Velma Walker Brunner went on to be with the Lord on December 15, 2018. She was born July 18, 1929, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. She married her husband, William James Brunner, on August 31, 1945. Bill and Celeste moved to Houston from New Orleans, LA where they raised their family in the Spring Branch area.
Celeste received a B.S. and Master’s degree from the University of Houston and Ph.D. from International Christian Institute. She was a teacher in Spring Branch ISD, a bilingual Kindergarten teacher in Houston ISD and Cy-Fair ISD as well as a principal at Faith West Academy in Katy. She also served as a college professor and a teacher of English as a Second Language to students from Central and South America. She was active in several churches and coordinated Children's activities for the Full Gospel Business Men's Conventions in Texas. All throughout her life, she loved and served the Lord.
Celeste is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Brunner, her parents, William and Audrey Walker, brother, William A. “Sonny” Walker, and sister, Delores Walker Renfrow. She is survived by her four children Janice R. Sharp and husband Jim, Stephen J. Brunner and wife Sherri, Lori L. Morris and husband Glenn, and William “Bill” A. Brunner; thirteen grandchildren: Phillip Davis, Rebecca Hartsfield, Iris Strauss, Stacy McComb, Lisa Anderson, Brandon Nally, Erin Byers, Julie Ordoñez, Garrett Morris, Ryan Morris, Jake Brunner, Ty Brunner, and Kendall Brunner; nine great-grandchildren Hannah Hartsfield, Hunter Hartsfield, Logan Brunner, Eli Anderson, Abby McComb, Carter McComb, Xyla Mae Morris, Gage Morris and Owen Byers; sisters Bernice Perkins and Joanna Parker; multiple nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation is 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018, with the celebration of life to be held Friday December 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery.
