Celia Romero De Reyes

Celia Romero de Reyes, was born in Mexico City, Mexico on October 26th, 1913 and died November 11, 2013, at 100 years old. She was the daughter of Pedro Romero and Margarita Castañeda, of Real de Monte in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico.

Her dad was a prosperous dealer of taxis in Mexico City and her mother dedicated herself to their household.

The Romero-Castañeda family consisted of 9 children, Celia the oldest and Guillermo, Alberto, Rafael, Pedro, Teresa, Ernestina, Isabel, and Beatriz, all of whom passed away before Celia.

As the eldest sibling, from an early age, Celia had to take charge of her father’s business, which she managed with efficiency until her father’s debts bankrupted the business. As a result, her family lost everything.

At 21 years old, Celia married Gabriel Reyes Landa (a) Babelin Reyes Yolanda. They had 9 children: Sergio, Leopoldo, Alfonso, Lilia, Leticia, Carlos, Paulino, Roselia, and Victor, 7 of which are still living.

Alfonso died in a car accident on the Mexico-Acapulco highway near Iguala. Leopoldo died in the City of Guadalajara at the age of 77. Celia and Gabriel worked all their lives to raise their children and instilled in them the values of love of their work, a culture of effort, and respect for others. They lived a life free of vices.

Gender roles never existed in their household. Celia and Gabriel shared the housework equally and they worked together to contribute to their livelihood. They shared 62 years of their lives together. Gabriel got ahead of her, passing away in 1996.

A woman of firm and strong character, blunt, but kind and cheerful, Celia always was a central family figure and she enjoyed the respect and appreciation of her family and peers. Rest in peace.

SEMBLANZA DE DOÑA CELIA ROMERO DE REYES

Doña Celia Romero de Reyes, nació en la ciudad de México, Distrito Federal, el 26 de octubre de 1913 y murió el 11 de noviembre de 2013, a los 100 años y 16 días de edad. Fue hija de Pedro Romero y Margarita Castañeda, originarios de Real de Monte en el estado de Hidalgo, México.

Su padre fue un próspero concesionario de taxis en la ciudad de México y su madre una mujer dedicada al hogar.

Los Romero Castañeda formaron una familia de 9 hijos: Celia, la mayor y Guillermo, Alberto, Rafael, Pedro, Teresa, Ernestina, Isabel y Beatriz, todos ellos fallecidos antes de Doña Celia.

Como hermana mayor, desde muy temprana edad Doña Celia tuvo que hacerse cargo de los negocios de su padre, los cuales administro con eficiencia y esmero hasta que las deudas de su padre quebraron el negocio. A consecuencia de ello la familia perdió casi todos sus bienes.

Doña Celia contrajo nupcias a los 21 años de edad con Gabriel Reyes Landa (a) Babelin Reyes Yolanda, con quien procreó 9 hijos: Sergio, Leopoldo, Alfonso, Lilia, Leticia, Carlos, Paulino, Roselia y Victor, de los cuales le sobreviven siete.

Alfonso murió en un accidente automovilístico en la carretera México-Acapulco, cerca de Iguala. Leopoldo falleció en la Ciudad de Guadalajara, a los 77 años.

Doña Celia junto con Don Gabriel trabajaron toda su vida para sacar adelante a sus hijos, a los que inculcaron el amor al trabajo y la cultura del esfuerzo y el respeto a los demás. Vivieron una vida ajena a los vicios y al despilfarro.

En su casa nunca existió la diferenciación de roles masculino-femeninos. Doña Celia y Don Gabriel compartían por igual las labores del hogar y juntos salían a buscar la vida. Compartieron juntos 62 años de sus vidas; Don Gabriel se le adelanto en 1996.

Mujer de carácter firme y enérgico; claridosa pero amable y jovial, Doña Celia fue siempre un referente familiar importante y gozo del respeto y aprecio de sus semejantes. Descanse en paz.
