I attended Spring Branch High School and graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1964. I served as Captain, U.S. Army Medical Service Corps, during the period June, 1966 to June, 1969, with service in RVN as Registrar of several hospitals. Thereafter I worked for Halliburton and predecessor companies as an auditor and international controller, until I retired from Petroleum GeoServices in 2007.
I married three women in my life: the former Lyn Burke, who was my high school sweetheart and lifetime friend; Nida Kruawises, who stole my heart in Singapore; and Linghu Zheng, who gave up her life in Shanghai to share mine. I loved all of these women and deserved none of them.
I am preceded in death by my parents, my beloved Aunts, the former Winona and Earline Garrett, and my Uncle James Garrett.
