

Charles E. (Pete) Dyson was born on June 11, 1938 in Scott City, Kansas, to George Irwin Dyson and Ruby Myrtle McMills. On June 12, 2022, the Lord decided it was time to take Pete home. The angels came down and carried him softly to heaven.
He received his high school diploma in Ft. Stockton, Texas. Attended college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He received a Bachelor of Administration degree and majored in Industrial Management.
In his freshman year, he pledged to Phi Gamma Delta. He won an award at Phi for greatest improvement in grades during a semester. His greatest achievements at Tech were Track and Field. He ran the mile in 4:21.7 which was a record at Tech for years. He also broke a record in high hurdles at 120 yards. Pete loved the competition of running and setting records. He held the school record in the two mile run at 9:46.1 for 12 years.
After college he worked various jobs in sales and roughnecking to help support his mother. He also worked during the summers between semesters to put himself thru school.
In 1964 he started working at Exxon in Field Marketing located in Roanoke/Norfolk/Harrisonburg, VA. In 1970 he transferred to Headquarters in Houston. Some of his assignments were planning/analysis specialist, region advisor and capital budget coordinator. He retired in 2000 with 36 years of service. He had to discontinue working because of macular degeneration.
Pete leaves behind 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Jackie. They were married for 37 years.Pete was a friend to everybody. He had no enemies. He always had a smile on his face. He never failed to hold out his hand to shake your hand. To him a friend was always a friend. He will be missed by many. He will be in our hearts forever. Rest in peace my love.
