

Charles (Charlie) William George was born in Montezuma, Indiana, on February 7, 1950. He spent his childhood in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and later resided in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lamar University in 1978. He worked for KBR, a global engineering construction and services company, for 37 years. His mother was Pearl Rebecca Leibbrandt George Wiley. His father was Forrest Paul George. He was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. Charlie married Sandra Medina on June 12th, 2004. Charlie volunteered at the Children’s Cancer Hospital at M.D. Anderson. Charlie’s brave battle with leukemia inspired his Garden Oaks neighbors to begin “Chairs for Charlie”, which has become a special tribute that symbolized the love and support that neighbors provided to him and Sandra at the end of his life.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife Sandra, his three children, Kathleen Elisabeth McMahon, Peter Forrest George, Jessica Gabrielle George, his son in law, Bobby McMahon, his sister, Victoria Murphy, his brother in law Robert Murphy and two beautiful granddaughters Maddie and Emma McMahon.
Charlie touched the lives of all of those who loved and knew him and will be deeply missed. His legacy of strength and courage will continue to inspire his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home located at 1200 West 34th Street in Houston on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 5-8PM with Rosary beginning at 7PM. Funeral Service will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church located at 3600 Brinkman Street in Houston on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 2PM with Committal to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
