

Charles attended Aldine High School. He volunteered to join the Navy at age 17. He proudly served from 1956 until 1959 and continued his service in the Naval Reserves until 1965. Charles graduated from Marine Engineer School in 1968. He worked many years as an electrician.
When Charles was younger, he loved to play the harmonica, liked rock-n-roll and of course, pretty girls. He had a passion for reading and studying history.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Collie Havard; his mother, Verna Ernice Flippen; his brother, Murray Flippen and his sister, Kathleen Y. Scott. He is survived by his sons, Mark Havard and Jeff Havard; and his daughters, Gaylynn Sullivan, Lawana Gale Larson and Rona Gooden. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Wink, Nicholas Henrich, Caleb Larson, Chloe Larson, Cody Larson, Christian Larson, Nehemiah Larson and Chancey Boone. Also surviving him is his sister, Denise Garner; niece, Sherry Balsamo and six great grandchildren.
Services for Charles will be at Brookside Memorial Park on September 24, 2019 at 1:30 PM.
