Charles Kenneth Hoffpauir

Ken was born in Crowley, Louisiana on March 5, 1932. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Stanley and Myrtle Hoffpauir and his sister, Judy Hoffpauir Lejeune.

Ken attended Crowley High School and was on the baseball team. He was recognized as MVP (most valuable player) for two consecutive years. He graduated in 1950 and then attended University of Louisiana, (Ragin’ Cajuns).

Ken left college and enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Army as a corporal and fought in Korea in 1953. He often spoke of his military service as one of the proudest moments in his life.

Ken returned home to Crowley after leaving the Army and began working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an inspector. He met and married Jackie Lynn May. They were married on December 5, 1954 in Crowley and shared 66 years of marriage.

Ken and Jackie have 4 children. Pam and husband James Wenzel of McAllen, Texas, Joni and husband John Palmer of Cypress, Texas, John David and wife Darla Hoffpauir of Humble, Texas, Jeffrey and wife Cheyenne Hoffpauir of Washougal, Washington.

They have 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Ken retired from the government in 1981 and pursued his hobby of working with stained glass, woodworking and jigsaw puzzles. He loved watching his Houston Astro’s, (LSU Fighting Tigers) and (Who Dat) New Orleans Saints.

A visitation for Charles will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.

A funeral service will occur Monday, November 15, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Monday, November 15, 2021 from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A reception will occur Monday, November 15, 2021 from 1:45 PM to 3:45 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
