Charles Chon Sok Kim

Our beloved father and grandfather, Charles Chonsok Kim, 78, passed peacefully into God’s kingdom on Monday evening, July 30th, 2018 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. After three brave years of battling cancer, he is now resting free of pain.

He was born in February of 1940 in Seoul, Korea to Do Bok Kim (father) and Bok Soon Noh (mother). He graduated from Seoul Sungdong Machinery High School and served in the US army as a machine operator for nearly a decade before marrying the love of his life, Sang Bok Kim, in 1964. He then continued work overseas for an additional decade. In 1984, he, his wife, and four children immigrated to Houston, Texas where Charles fervently supported his family as a private business owner until retiring in 2006. It was from these experiences that made Charles into the strong and brave man we treasure. His accomplishments live on in the big, beautiful, and inseparable family you see today.

Charles is celebrated for his undying devotion to family and God. Although brave and tough, he was gentle and adored those he loved. His heart and passion also extends to God, as he earnestly served as an Ordained Deacon for a decade at Korean Christian Church of Houston. He is currently a member of Full Gospel Church of Houston. Those who knew Charles will deeply cherish every laugh, smile, and embrace shared with him.

Charles is survived by his wife, Sang Bok Kim, and four children, Eun Hee Kim, Mark Kim, Eden Kim, and Suzie Chincaunco, along with seven grandchildren. We are at peace knowing that our father and grandfather is dancing happily above. He is deeply missed and will rest in our hearts forever. Thank you for everything, Grandpa, we love you.

우리가 사랑하는 아버지, 할아버지께서는 지난 3년간의 암투병을 마치시고 7월 30일 월요일 저녁 9시 30분에 메모리얼 헐먼 병원에서 하나님 나라로 우리곁을 떠나셧습니다

할아버지께서는 1940년 2 월 서울에서 김도복, 노복순 고조 할아버지 할머니사이에서 태어 나셧습니다. 서울 성동 기계중고등학교를 나오시고 사랑하는 할머니 김상복권사님과 결혼 (1964 년) 하시기 전까지 미군에서 기계기사로 10년간 근무하셧습니다. 그후 10년간 해외직장에서 일하셧습니다. 1984년이 되는해에 사랑하는 할머니와 4 자녀와함께 미국 휴스턴 텍사스로 이민을 오셧읍니다. 2006년 은퇴하시기 전까지 이곳 휴스턴에 정착하셔서 개인 사업으로 열심히 일하시며 가족을 가꾸었습니다. 이러한 많은 경험들은 우리가 귀하게 여기는 할아버지를 강하고 용감한 분으로 만들엇습니다. 할아버지가 이루신 것은 여러분들이 현제 보시고 있는 크고 아름답고 띠어놀래야 띠어놀수없는 우리가족 그모습 그자체입니다.

할아버지께서는 가족과 하나님을 위해 끈임없는 희생을 하셧습니다. 용감하고 강하셧지만 사랑하는 가족에겐 부드럽고 친절하셧습니다. 할아버지의 하나님에 대한 마음의 열정은 휴스턴 한인교회에서 안수집사로 봉사하게 하시고 하나님이 부르실때까지 휴스턴 순복음교회에 성도로 다니셧습니다. 할아버님을 아시는 많은 분께서는 할아버지의 호탕한웃음, 환한미소, 나누엇던 모든것들을 귀하게 간직하시고 기념하실줄 믿습니다.

할아버지께서는 사랑하는 할머니 김상복 권사님, 4 자녀Eun Hee Kim, Mark Kim, Eden Kim, and Suzie Chincaunco 와 7명의 손자손녀를 남기시고 하늘나라로 가셧습니다. 우리가족 모두는 할아버지께서 하늘나라에서 기쁘고 행복하게 계신다는 사실을 알기에 마음에 평강이 있습니다. 우리는 할아버지가 많이 보고 싶어할것이고 우리마음에 영원히 남아 있을것입니다. 감사하고 사랑합니다.
