Charles Edward Mousa Jr. passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on February 8, 1965, in Houston, Texas, to Charles Edward Mousa Sr. and Helen Lorice Mousa. Charles was the second of three children and beloved son, a role he carried with pride, devotion, and a deep sense of responsibility toward those he loved.
Charles grew up in Houston, immersed in a close-knit family whose bonds shaped the man he became. Sundays were sacred spending time at his grandparents’ home with parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins sharing meals, laughter, and stories. These moments instilled in Charles a lifelong appreciation for togetherness, tradition, and loyalty. As a brother, he embraced his role wholeheartedly, always offering guidance and encouragement to his younger brother, George and his sister, Janet.
Charles attended Westbury High School, graduating in 1984, and later studied at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and enterprising spirit, proudly working alongside his family in their businesses. He cherished time spent with his jido, Badeah Mousa; sito, Olga Mousa (Fadal) and his father, Charles Sr.; at Fool’s Gold Country Western Night Club and the family clothing business on Texas Avenue in Houston. On his mother’s side he enjoyed going to the Rose Garden and Sugar Shack in Tyler, Texas spending time with his jidi, Louis “Froggy” Murad and his siti, Ruby Sawyer Murad. Later, he and his brother George opened and operated Tommy’s Hamburgers renamed Northwest Grill at the former Northwest Mall, a venture that reflected Charles’s dedication to family, hard work, and community.
Sports were a lifelong passion for Charles. As a young man, he played Little League Baseball and FUN Football, later joining the offensive line at Westbury High School, where the team nicknamed the “Wolfpack” enjoyed a memorable playoff run. A devoted sports fan, Charles enthusiastically supported the Houston Rockets, Houston Oilers, Houston Astros, and Texas A&M Aggies, sharing his love of the game with friends and family.
Charles was deeply proud of his heritage and faith. He served as Youth President in the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs and dedicated more than 18 years of service to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Transportation Committee. A faithful member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, Charles lived his faith through service, generosity, and love for others.
It was while working at Tommy’s Hamburgers that Charles met the love of his life, Rebecca Johnson. Their marriage marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership rooted in devotion, friendship, and shared adventure. Together, they built a life centered on family, travel, laughter, and lasting friendships. Charles was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and a loyal friend whose kindness and steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Like his father, Charles did not know any strangers. It was no surprise that he was approached by a friend in the Paris airport by a friend yelling out his name “Charles” as he and Rebecca were
on their honeymoon. Whether in a Houston restaurant or on the road, Charles would stop and connect with people he knew or even did not know giving his time with everyone he met.
In thanking friends and family, the love and care shared by Rosemarie Johnson, Robin and Rito Rodriquez, Walter Hanson, George and Suzanne Mousa, Joe, Jimmy and Anita Shahda and the entire staff at Fresenius Kidney Care is cherished by everyone. Special thanks to Juan Gonzalez, MD with the Kidney Institute, for continued care during the entirety of Charles’ illness. In extending Charles’ time with us, thanks to Philip Murad for his extraordinary gift of life, donated in 2013.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Mousa; his daughter, Brittany Mousa McNair; his son, George Charles Mousa; his daughter-in-law, Charlotte Mousa; and his brother, George Badeah Mousa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua Andrew McNair, Jaden Alexander McNair, and Lily Elizabeth McNair; his mother-in-law, Rosemarie Johnson; cherished nephews, Mike Anthony Sanchez, Peter Huseth, and Zachary Huseth; his niece Christina Huseth; his brother-in-law, Gordon Huseth; his sister-in-law, Suzanne Mousa; his wife’s family members; and many dear aunts, cousins, and lifelong friends who will miss him profoundly.
