Charles Cordova Patiño

Charles was born October 19, 1924 in Houston, Texas to Benito C. Patiño and Guadalupe Valdez. He will always be remembered for his kind, patient, giving, and loving soul. He loved his family dearly and we will all miss his strength, humor and unconditional love. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of more than 60 years, Julia Patiño, son Jimmy C. Patiño, sisters Rose Asaf and Mary Puente, and brothers Jimmy, Henry, Ben, and Robert Patiño.

As a young man, he loved to dance, play sports, and worked several jobs to help his family. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the 1940s, and was sent to the Pacific theater. He used the G.I. bill to train as a repairman and worked for many years at Houston T.V. where he retired. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and was a long time member of the Old Timer’s Club.

He leaves behind his daughter, Toni M. Pilgreen; grandchildren Troy A. Pilgreen (wife Lili), Tracey K. Palacios (husband John), Tina M. Pilgreen, Jimmy Patiño, Jr., Linda Patiño-Amador (husband Raul), and Charles A. Patiño (wife Andrea); and great-grandchildren Caitlin A. Pilgreen, Julian Amador, Anthony Wood, Jimmy Patiño III, Mya Amador, LunaBella Patiño, Seth C. Pilgreen, Penelope Olivia Palacios, Joaquin-Anthony Cruz Palacios, Celine Patiño, and Angelo Patiño.

A visitation for Charles will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Rosary at 6:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 10, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4918 Cochran St, Houston, TX 77009. A committal service will occur Friday, February 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
