He was born in Metairie, Louisiana in 1954 to Denis Rivette and Myrtle Adelia Coles Rivette. For most of his life, Charles preferred to be called Denis. He attended East Jefferson High School before graduating with a Bachelors degree from the University of Louisiana. He was active in the marching band and concert band, playing the clarinet and alto saxophone most often. He married Joyce Ann Bjorkgren on January 7, 1977, right after graduating college; and they enjoyed many years together before having children. Before retirement, he worked at Exterran—formerly Universal Compression—as a buyer and project manager. Charles was a past worthy patron of the Houston Chapter 385, OES—which he joined with his wife. He was the worshipful master of Temple Lodge #4 in 1991-92 and served as Secretary in 1996-2013. He enjoyed political and military history as well as genealogy. He enjoyed building and painting model planes, tanks, and ships. He shared his love of home renovation and DIY projects with his children, encouraging their development into independent, capable adults. He was active in the church, serving on multiple committees, and had an integral part in maintaining the campus.
Charles is preceded in death by Denis Rivette and Myrtle Adelia Coles Rivette, and his wife Joyce Rivette. He is survived by Daughter Catherine Marie Rivette, Son Denis Alexander Rivette and wife Sharessa."
