Charles "Chas" Burney Warren
January 21, 1948 – April 25, 2021
Charles “Chas” Burney Warren passed away in Houston, TX on the 25th of April 2021, at the age of 73. He was born in El Paso, TX on the 21st of January 1948. He served in various management roles in the oil and gas industry for almost 40 years. Chas worked for several notable companies including the El Paso Natural Gas Company, EPNG Marine Company, Meridian Oil, Burlington Resources Inc., and ConocoPhillips.
In conjunction with the El Paso Community Foundation, Chas was instrumental in fundraising efforts to build a library. This was the first satellite library in the area at the time, and he provided a valuable and long lasting service to the community. Chas had a great passion for classic cars and enjoyed many road trips along the back roads of the United States. After relocating to Houston in 1996, he served as president of his neighborhood HOA for over two decades and enjoyed the opportunity to build great friendships.
He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel Ree Warren and father Willis Burney Warren of El Paso.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carlene Maxey Warren; daughter Sheila Hillier and son-in-law Michael Hillier; son Stephen Warren and daughter-in-law Stacey Warren; four beloved grandchildren: Sophia Hillier, Stephanie Hillier, Ethan Warren, and Pierce Warren; and cousin Flo McGee.
The family wishes to thank the medical community and the staff at DaVita Bintz for their care and support.
A memorial service will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 21st of May 2021, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where The Rev. Lisa R. Neilson, Associate for Pastoral Care Ministry at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private inurnment in The Garden of the Holy Cross at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Warren may be directed to The Wayside Chapel of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road, Houston, TX, 77056; or to a charity of one’s choice.

I have many great memories working for Chas as my boss at Burlington Resources. He was a very supportive and just a good kind hearted person. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

we are all sadden by Chaz 's passing but at the same time we are reminded of the wonderful years we enjoyed as a close community the block parties were great but the long friendships will always be treasured
