Charlotte Marie Miears

June 17, 1941 – August 1, 2026
Obituary of Charlotte Marie Miears
IN THE CARE OF

Garden Oaks Funeral Home & Crematory

Forever in Our Hearts

Charlotte Marie Cernuch Miears gained her wings on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, and is now with Jesus. Charlotte was born in Houston, Texas on June 17th, 1941, to Chuck Cernuch and Jonnie Mae Cernuch. She graduated high school from Jeff Davis High in 1959.

She spent most of her career as an executive secretary for Lavaca Oil Company before a stint as a homemaker and had spent the last 30 years in retirement. She married Charles Rudel in September 1961 after meeting on a blind date with her coworker and Charles cousin and had three children, Chad, Chandi and Chay. She remained friends with Charles even after their divorce in 1974. She married Robert T. "Bobby" Miears in 1976 and was married for 22 years until his passing in 1998. A few years later she met up with an old classmate, Jimmy Tomlin, at a Jeff Davis High School Reunion and they were together for the next 20 years. He passed away just a few years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister at birth and her beloved son, Chay Rudel.

She is survived by the following:

Three brothers; Leonard "Butch" Cernuch and his wife, Rita Cernuch of Cypress, TX, John Rudolph "J.R." Cernuch of Marquez, TX, and Chuck "Chuckie" Cernuch of Henderson, TX.

Her daughter; Chandi Rudel and her fiance, Carey Fletcher (her "son-in-love") of Pompano Beach, FL.

Her son; Chad Rudel and his wife Jackie Gentry Rudel of Grapevine, TX.

Her grandchildren; Erlinda Lowenborg (Nick) of Seattle, WA, Andrea Sparks of Dayton, TX, Cassandra Lee and Juwon Lee of Channelview, TX, Chelsea Rudel of Houston, TX, Courtney Rudel (Freddy Soto) of Houston, TX, Abby Halfmann (Bryan) of Rowena, TX, Berkeley Dale (Chase) of Princeton, TX, Troy Hunt (Brandi) of Azle, TX and Austin Fletcher.

She also leaves behind fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was very active in her Jeff Davis High School alumni and known as "The Queen of JSHS", heading up regular class get togethers, luncheons and reunions. She had many dear and special friends. Among life-long friends were Melanie Anderson of Kerrville, Texas, Margaret Brueggerman of Friendswood, Texas and Sondra Pickering. She loved her coffee and chocolate, making jewelry, playing games on her phone and she had a love for nature and a passion for photography and would spend hours on her golf cart riding around in the woods taking pictures of the wildlife! For the last two years she was a resident at Ella Springs Assisted Living in Houston, Texas where she made many new friends and was also known as "The Queen of Ella Springs". She had a great sense of humor, was very caring and will be missed by all.
