Cheryl Ann Blacklock (Cherlan) was born August 23, 1954, in Houston, TX. to Herlis and Emma Lee Williams. She was the last born to the couple. Cherlan grew up in Pleasantville where she attended Pleasantville Elementary. The family later moved to Central Gardens where she attended E.O. Smith Junior High and Graduated from Jeff Davis Sr. High School class of 1972.
Cherlan later married Donald Ray Blacklock and to that union two children were born. Her heart Broderick Williams and her pride and joy Imana Blacklock.
Cherlan Accepted Christ at an early age. She was an active member of The Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. First under the leadership of the late Rev. King and L. P. Pointer. She remained and active member under the leadership of Pastor Byrd Lacey until Covid. She helped in the cafeteria during Vacation Bible School or wherever she was needed. Her ministry was to sing, and that is how she served the Lord! Singing in the church choir. You could find her in the tenor section holding her note and playing her tambourine. She loved her pastor and her church.
Cherlan worked for Verizon wireless for 25 years prior to retirement. She made many friends over the years and some even became family. Cherlan was known for her beautiful smile and bubbly personality.
She loved to spend time with her grandkids making new recipes and shopping. At the family reunion she was known as the one to, “get the party started” always requesting to hear Family Reunion by The O’Jays and We Are One by MAZE. She was loved by many and hated by few!! She will truly be missed. We take comfort in knowing that absent from the body means present with the Lord.
Cherlan departed this life early Monday morning July 26, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents Herlis and Emma Williams, Brother Robert Williams, and Husband Donald Ray Blacklock.
