Chester Thomas Hodges
January 27, 1948 – December 4, 2018
Chester Thomas Hodges, III, was born January 27, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the second of the three children born to Chester Thomas Hodges, Jr. and Realma Fannie Hodges. He accepted Christ at an early age and was united with the Morning Star Baptist Church in Omaha. He joined the intermediate choir, junior usher board and the Crusaders, a Christian organization for young men. In later years, he has been a member of Abiding Love in Houston, Texas.
Chester attended Kellom Grade School and Technical Jr. and Senior High Schools graduating in June 1965 in Omaha, Nebraska.
He joined the United States Air Force right out of high school in 1965. He was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska; Clark AFB in the Phillipines and Ramstein AFB in Germany.
After the military, Chester attended an airline school. In 1983, he was hired by Continental Airlines in Houston, Texas. This allowed him to indulge in one of his favorite pastimes, traveling. He was able to travel throughout the United States and other countries around the world. In 1999, while traveling to Honduras, he met and married Dilia Ruiz. In 2015, Chester retired from the airlines with 32 years of service.
Chester was an avid sports fan. Football by far was his favorite sport. The teams that were special to him were the University of Nebraska Huskers and the Houston Texans. But he also enjoyed a number of other sports including basketball and baseball and he could be very opinioned about the teams he liked and disliked.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dilia; daughter, Kantrice; sons, Bryan Ruiz and Javier Hodges; and one grandson along with a host of other family members and friends.
