

Chester G. Kimbrell, 72, of Spring, Texas, entered the gates of Heaven on November 13, 2020. Chester was born in Houston, Texas on November 19,1947. Chester is the oldest of seven children. He married his high school sweetheart, Nelda Madden Kimbrell in June of 1966. They have been married for 54 years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Chester A. Kimbrell, his mother, Bernice Kennedy Kimbrell, and his brothers Robert Kimbrell and James Kimbrell. He is survived by his wife Nelda Madden Kimbrell, and three daughters, Laura Lowe and husband Kevin, Sandra Speer and husband Robert, Amanda Ziaer and husband Jon Eric. Chester is also survived by his eight grandchildren Courtney Lowe, Maegan Crites and husband Shawn, Chase Speer, Julia Lowe, Tyler Speer, Alexa Ziaer, Zac Ziaer, and Zoe Ziaer, as well as his four great grandchildren, Serenity Rose Davis, Ronin Rei Davis, Riley Lynn Crites and Liam Michael Crites. Chester’s surviving siblings include Elizabeth Kimbrell Cummings and husband Mark, Gary Kimbrell and wife Brenda, Terry Kimbrell, Michael Kimbrell and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Chester joined the Houston Fire Department in 1966 and served 20 years, retiring as a Senior Captain in 1986. During his tenure, he was on the first paramedic team for HFD and served with Dr. Red Duke. He loved his position as a Pipe and Ladderman, Chauffeur, Jr. Captain, and Sr.Captain. He also served with the Spring Volunteer Fire Department. Outside of the fire department, Chester enjoyed running his own construction business, hunting, traveling especially to Colorado, and raising his many animals including Santa Gertrudis cattle, goats, and bronze turkeys to name a few.. He was a mentor to students in 4-H and FFA and took an active role for many years in the Spring Tri-Club Show for all three of his girls. Chester also served on the committee to create the first Spring FFA local barn where students housed
projects in one location. Chester volunteered in his neighborhood by chairing many Halloween carnivals, establishing the first neighborhood swim team and much more. He was passionate about guitar playing with friends and was always up for a game of Name That Tune.
In his retirement years, he pursued his hobby of collecting N-gage and HO gage trains and John Deer model tractors. He loved his ROMEO family (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and had many stories to tell about their times together. He always had some project going on at the house so that he could share his knowledge of building with his children and grandchildren. He loved getting together with his family to BBQ, visit, and just spend time with one another.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, November 20, 2020 from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., and a Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Family Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial
Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 , followed by the burial.
Chester will be dearly missed by his wife, children and family. He will always be in their hearts.
