

Chester Charles Pratt passed away on September 19, 2026, at 102 years old. He was born on August 15, 1924, in Reed City, Michigan to the late Edna (Kage) and Charles Pratt. He moved to Detroit, Michigan at 4 years old.
Chet was drafted in 1943 and served in the Army for WWII. He graduated from the University of Michigan on the GI Bill in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Chet reconnected with the love of his life at his cousin Ivy’s wedding in Chicago in 1947. He married Phyllis Norene Marker on June 12, 1948. They had 67 years together before her passing in December 2015.
Chet and Phyllis moved to Buffalo, New York with Crouse-Hinds Company as an electrical engineer upon graduation from University of Michigan where all their 4 children were born. He transferred from Buffalo to Birmingham, Michigan in 1960. He and Phyllis moved to Houston, Texas in 1975 where he lived until 2023 when he moved to Canton, Georgia.
Chet was an avid bowler, bridge player and golfer in his younger days and enjoyed Wii bowling until his passing. He and Phyllis enjoyed traveling, taking pictures, square dancing with the “Hey Lollies” and spending time with his family. He celebrated his 102nd birthday at his daughter’s house in Canton with many family members.
Chet is survived by his daughter Cynthia (Russ) Petersen, son David (Jimmie Sue) Pratt, and daughter Marcia Grenier. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Brian (Jess) Dooley, Katherine (Dan) Zeiter, Erica Pitre, Rachel Pratt, Alexa Pratt, 3 step-grandsons, Andy, Mike and Jake Petersen and their families. He also had 3 great grandchildren; Nicole Zeiter, Brendan Zeiter, and Quinn Dooley. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Gail (1951) and his wife Phyllis Marker (2015) as well as two sons-in-law; Joseph Dooley Jr., and Tim Grenier.
Visitation for Chet will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 1pm to 2pm, with the funeral beginning at 2pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home: 13001 Katy Fwy. Houston, TX 77079. Burial will take place immediately after in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
