

A lifelong Houstonian, Chet was born on the 6th of January 1940. He attended Lamar High School and Texas Christian University. After college Chet served his country in the United States Air Force. In 1985, he founded Sappington Energy Interests Ltd, where he served as president until 2023. Chet was a member of the Houston Country Club, the Forest Club and the Houston Petroleum Club.
Chet was passionate about travel, good food, and family, most of all his six grandchildren. Although he was well known for his gruff exterior, those who knew him well will remember him for his kind, generous, and loving nature.
Chet is preceded in death by his parents, Peggie Cochren Sappington and Chester Paul Sappington Sr., as well as his beloved wife Elvi Fewell Sappington.
He is survived by stepchildren, Vikki Osso and Bubba Fewell, grandchildren, Nikki Lassiter, Anthony Osso, Christian Osso, Gia Osso, Austin Fewell and Tyler Fewell as well as great grandchildren, Scout Lassiter and Nico Lassiter.
The family would like to thank his devoted caregivers Elena Hernandez, Evelyn Miller and all the amazing staff at the Village of the Heights.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 13th of May, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced at the service.
