Chloe Gearld Speake

Chloe Gerald Speake passed at the age of 94 in Montgomery, TX at the home of her granddaughter Shannon Sorensen, whom was her caretaker on Friday January 18th 2013. She passed peacefully in a natural manner.

Chloe was born March 14th 1918, in the town of Gilmer, TX. Her parents were Mary Young, and Charles Duncan. Chloe worked many years in the factories, and then later became a homemaker where she was happiest with a baby in her arms and nurturing whom ever needed it. Chloe lived many years in Houston. She then moved to Montgomery and resided with her family between Montgomery and Conroe, and then where she laid her head to rest in Montgomery, TX in the home of her granddaughter Shannon Sorensen. Chloe loved to be out working in the yard, and garden. She loved to color or paint as she would say, in her color books. Chloe found her most enjoyment out of watching the children play and being with her family. Chloe was a religious woman, and with no doubt Christ was in her heart and she is now in his presence, and one beautiful angel among us all. Chloe always had a smile on her face, and though a very simple woman had a knack for making the simplest things the most amazing. There has never been a person to cross her path that didn’t love her, and without any effort she always had a way of making you feel peaceful, happy, and loved. Chloe had a wonderful sense of humor and was always making people laugh, even when she didn’t realize.

Chloe was survived by her children Sammy Pearson of Conroe, TX, and Lana Self of Sheperd, TX. Grandchildren Shannon and Jerry Sorensen of Montgomery, TX, Donna Dowdy of Montgomery, TX, Danny Pearson of Montgomery, TX, John and Tracey Arnold of Huffman, TX, Lee and Deandra Self of Magnolia, TX, Melanie Self of Magnolia, TX, Gary Foster of Katy, TX, Crystal and Danny Talley of Houston, TX, Kelly Darrell of Houston,TX, Casey and Cathy Darrell of Houston, TX,& Patrick Darrell of North Carolina, Chloe was also survived by many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren whom she loved and loved her right back. Brother and wife Clark & Nancy Duncan, and of course not overlooking the many other family members and friends that Chloe had and loved so much.

Chloe was predeceased by husband Leon Speake, children Kenneth Darryl, and grandchildren Dean Pearson, Lavonia foster, Michael Darrell, and Shawn Darrell.

Graveside services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston TX. 77039. Friday January 25th 2013 at 2:00PM. The Pallbearers will be Dustin Sorensen, Jerry Sorensen, Bryan Dowdy, James Dowdy, Lee Self, & Gary Foster. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the services so from 1:00 till 2pm Friday January 25th 2013 at the same address. Thank you to everyone who has pulled together to help with the funeral Thank you to Brookside for everything you have done Thank you to nurse Tammy Chloe’s hospice nurse whom made things bearable at the moments of thinking it wouldn’t be, and taking care of Chloe the way that she deserved to be taken care of. Thank you to hospice for everything you did, and a big thank you to Chloe’s care takers Shannon Sorensen, Sammy Pearson, and Danny Pearson. Thank you to all who made Chloe G Speake smile her beautiful smile. Most of all Thank you Chloe for everything you have done for each and every person you have touched.
