A proud and lifelong resident of Barrio Magnolia since June 30, 1961, Chris loved beans and tortillas, rock and roll, and having a good time. He served his country as a Marine from 1979 to 1983.
The early years of Christopher's life spanned the decades that made him the person we gather to celebrate: a child of the 60s, he learned the rules could always be rewritten; a teenager in the 70s, he found who he was and who he wanted to be; and a young man in the 80s, he realized there was no real value in material things.
The company Chris kept were what some might call the "wrong crowd," but in their eternal battle with demons most of us will never face, he showed his friends the respect, dignity, and compassion everyone deserves. He brought out the best in people going through their worst.
If you knew Chris, you know he wouldn't want you to "sweat" him or inconvenience yourself on his account. He was never a fan of big deals, preferring a beer and good conversation on the porch over anything else.
To honor him: try something new, take a chance, do the things you want to do, and be exactly who you want to be. Just be happy. That would make him smile.
