He is survived by his father, Gary B. Wadkins; mother, Linda Faye Tice Wadkins Hurst; brothers, Gary Daniel Wadkins, Robert Spencer Moore and James Austin Wadkins; stepmother, Christian Ann Robison Wadkins; stepfather, Edward Roy Hurst; and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His professional career for the past twelve years was as a member of the Texas Mortgage Brokers’ Association. He enjoyed assisting people in obtaining their dreams of owning their own homes. He was a graduate of Taylor High School, and attended Southern Methodist University, where he achieved his Oracle Database Management certificate.
Chris loved the outdoors and during his life, he became an avid fisherman. He enjoyed music, good food, his family and friends, and was always quick with his beautiful smile and a quick joke to make those blessed with his presence to feel joy in their lives.
Chris was a person who knew the Lord and over his life he commented many times that his name was Christopher, and Christ was in his name. Christ too, was in his life as he gave his love to his family and friends in such an unconditional manner as to bring joy and happiness to us all.
A loving son, brother, family member and friend, we will always remember him as a true gentleman, spreading his love, joy and happiness to all those around him with unselfishness and humility. He will be missed by all of us who loved him and whom he loved.
Chris will be fondly remembered in the hearts of all whose lives he touched, and whose memories of Chris will include his laughter, his smile and the sparkle in his beautiful eyes. He is now in Heaven with those who went before him; grandmothers, Jewel Estelle Saint Wadkins and Mary Sybil Burns Tice; grandfathers, Jesse Earl Wadkins, Wilbur Daniel Tice, Grandpa Saint; and great-grandparents, who are now holding him in their loving arms as we who are left behind are comforting one another.
The memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 8th of September, in the Sanctuary of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston. 1 Corinthians 13 – “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE.”
