I never saw him without a smile. I never saw him cry. To me he will always be a second man, a father figure, and a role model that everyone should strive to be. Thank you for all the crazy memories, the great advice, and all the support. I will always carry a piece of you in my heart and will always keep you in my prayers, because at the end of the day for me you were never just a neighbor… you are and will always be family. Thank you for everything Mr. Chris and for being part of shaping the person I am today.

He not only showed us how to offer kindness to strangers but also showed us to have fun. To live for those moments that happen in seconds. He showed us how to be fighters and how to never give up.

Mr. Chris to my family and I started as a friendly neighbor. Someone to say hi to everyday, to respect, and to listen to when playing on his grass. To each one of us he meant something different but for myself, I am proud to say that he was a second dad. A father figure that was always there when it mattered most. Whether it was to tell me “Don’t go out too late,” “who is that guy?,” “how is school going?,” “stay out of trouble,” or “we are so proud of you.” He always knew exactly what to say when I needed to hear it most. Every holiday he was there and not just as a neighbor anymore but as someone who my family and I were proud to call family. I remember I was so nervous when I told him I was getting married… thinking he might say something like, “well you haven’t known him that long,” or “maybe it’s not time yet.” He told me that I was smart and that he trusted whatever I chose to do. He never made me feel judged or like I couldn’t go to him for help, which I did, a lot. Whether it was to help with my car or to give some advice. He was a man I could always count on and I’m glad I got to meet him and know him for so long. To my father, he was a friend (which was a shock to us all since he didn’t have a lot of those), and to my mom he was somebody to joke around with and her best friends husband (Mrs. Rebecca). The day he left he took a little piece from each one of us.

This is kind of hard to write because knowing Chris Widaski is no longer with us breaks my heart.  Chris was the most kindhearted and giving person I have ever known.   Chris lived across the street from me, and I remember when I first moved into the neighborhood I would sit out in my driveway and Chris would come out of his garage and wave to me.  That went on for about a week each day and then one day Chris started walking towards me and I met him in the street.  That was the beginning of a great friendship.  I played darts or horseshoes with Chris until 2 or 3 in the morning at times.   We played so many games in his garage of pool, darts, & poker with other friends and neighbors.   Chris's garage was the heart of our neighborhood.   I learned to watch NASCAR with Chris in his garage.  Chris helped me and other neighbors anytime he saw we needed it.   Gosh,  just typing this brings me to tears.  I loved Chris and maybe he wasn't my biological brother, but I sure had love for him as if he was.  I moved to Dallas in 2011 and since then I have not had a neighbor anything like Chris to play darts, horseshoes, and pool with or anything else.  But I did stay in contact with Chris, and we would always text during the A&M  and Razorback games.   He was the best of the best.  I'll miss you so much, Rest in peace Brother!   Love,  Greg Cash

As I reflect on the many years that have shaped me into the man I am today, I think back to my childhood, my father, and the friends who surrounded him. They didn’t just influence my life,they helped mold my character, my values, and the way I carry myself every day.
Chris was a perfect example of that kind of man. His impact, along with the influence of so many others we’ve lost over the years, will never be forgotten. Though they may no longer be with us, they remain a part of who we are through the lessons they taught, the memories they gave us, and the example they set.
The impact a person has on a soul, especially during childhood, lasts a lifetime. Those moments, conversations, and examples become part of us forever. I am grateful for every one of those men who helped shape my life, and I carry a piece of each of them with me every day.

I am so sorry to hear this news of Chris. I am sending my condolences and prayers to Rebecca and Elizabeth during this time of loss. Chris was a wonderful person, friend and father. I know he loved you both more than anything in the world. He spoke of you both all the time. I am so blessed to have known him in this lifetime. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Chris. I knew him as a co-worker, a great husband, father and I know he was a great grandfather.   I had the privilege to work with Chris for over 20 years at the Ford store in Katy, he not only was a co-worker, but a great friend.  There wasn't a vehicle around that he couldn't fix and was always willing to help anyone that needed car advise or help fixing it.  I know that Chris loved to relax on the weekends having a couple of cold beers, watching his NASCAR races and spending time with family and we would talk about it on Mondays, he is actually the one that first got me watching NASCAR.   Even though I left and moved away, I have always remembered the things he taught me about vehicles and NASCAR.  Please remember that you will definitely be in our prayers and again so sorry for your loss.

My dear cousin, I am deeply sorry for the loss of Chris. I pray that God fills the family with strength and peace. Sending a big hug from Costa Rica to everyone.

When I heard of the passing of my friend… Tears wouldn’t stop and heart ache was strong and so I did the only thing he would of wanted.. I went to the golf course here in Moab, Ut… I, we know your golfing with the greats as that big NASCAR track and all the legends are race around you as your playing golf in the infield…. Then going and hanging out with the Green Bay Packer legends… See you again Sir…

This message is to honor and remember a truly extraordinary man, a dear friend, and quite simply, one of the best neighbors anyone could ever ask for. Chris wasn’t just someone who lived down the block, he was the heartbeat of our neighborhood.

If you were looking for Chris on a Thursday night, you didn’t have to look far. You just had to head toward the sound of laughter and the popping of beer tops coming from his garage. That garage was so much more than a place to park cars—it was the ultimate neighborhood hangout. Every Thursday, we knew the door would be open, the Budweiser's would be ice-cold, and a friendly game of pool would be waiting. But more than the pool or the beer, it was the conversation that kept us there. Around Chris, you could just sit back and talk about life. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, listened to, and completely at home.

Chris was also our resident neighborhood mechanic, a man gifted with his hands and an incredibly generous heart. No matter how busy he was with his own life, he was never *too* busy to help a friend in need. If your car was making a strange noise or you were stuck in a pinch, Chris was there with his tools, his expertise, and his trademark willingness to help. He gave his time and skills freely, asking for nothing in return but friendship.

To his wonderful wife, Rebecca: please know that Chris was deeply loved by all of us, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. We are holding you and the entire family close to our hearts. We are here for you—for whatever you need, whenever you need it—during this immense time of sorrow.

As we say our goodbyes, we also promise to celebrate the incredible life Chris lived. He was a fighter, a protector, and a loyal friend. He fought the good fight, he finished his race, and his memory will live on

I met Chris 28 years ago when we bought our house next to him, I never forget his warm welcome as new neighbor with his Cold Beer in his hand. Ever since we became Brothers and family.  Chris was the most generous human being that I know, he would help anyone without any hesitation.  God bless him
