Clarence "Jim" James Carroll

Clarence (Jim) James Carroll, also lovingly known as Pappy, or Mr. C, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on November 18, 2025.

Born on December 17, 1941, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, Jim was the eldest of two children born to Emerson and Edith Carroll. He grew up in McKeesport, PA where he graduated from McKeesport High School in 1960. Immediately after graduation Jim proudly joined the Air Force to be of service to his country.

In 1961, Jim married the love of his life Theresa Kuzio. Together they devoted their lives to raising their three children.

In the early part of Jim’s Air Force career, he served as an Aerospace Control and Warning Systems Technician. This position took him to many places around the United States as well as around the world including Greenland, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The Air Force then sent Jim to Keesler AFB to train for his dream job of being an Air Traffic Controller. Jim was able to spend the final 8 years of his Air Force career at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas.

While at Bergstrom AFB, Jim wore many hats along with being a husband, father, and Air Traffic Controller. He was also a Little League coach, Pee Wee football coach, Band Parent, and a college student.

After 20 years of dedicated service to his country, Jim retired from the Air Force and continued to live in Austin where he began his next career at the Texas State Comptroller’s office as a Security Analyst. Jim spent the next 20 years with the state until he retired for the final time.

After 30+ years, Jim and his bride left the Austin area and moved to Magnolia to be closer to family and began their next life journey. Jim and Theresa both had a passion for travel and treasured the many trips they were able to take on cruises and to Europe with family and friends, which they did as much as possible.

While in Magnolia, Jim became a popular figure in the stands as he attended as many school and sport activities of his grandchildren as possible. He was always easy to spot in the crowd with his crown of bright white hair, smiling and enthusiastic attitude, and clear love for his grandchildren. He became everyone’s Pappy as he cheered on teammates as much as his own grandchildren. While living in Magnolia Jim also volunteered at the USO at George Bush Intercontinental Airport for 10 years.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, traveling companion, and best friend, Theresa Carroll, daughters Terry Frangopolous and husband Steve, Kelly Wilde and husband Greg, son JD Carroll, sister Judith Carroll, grandchildren that brought him endless pride and joy, BA Parker and wife Amanda, Cody Parker, Cameron Wilde and Kenadie Wilde, great-grandchildren Landon, Bryn, Charli, and step-great grandchild Hudson, sisters-in-law Cathy Brosky and husband Ron, Mary Ann Foley, brother-in-law David Kuzio, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A visitation will take place at American Heritage Funeral Home, located at 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, on December 2, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:15 am.

A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm.

The committal service is scheduled at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, on December 2, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.

A reception will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home on December 2, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
