

Clarence Maurice Surface, 79, was called to his Heavenly Father, Wednesday morning, November 10, 2021. He was born in Houston, Texas on December 23, 1941 to Milford Daniel Surface and Marguerite Schmiech Surface.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert Surface, Derrell Surface, and Melvin Surface; his sisters: Anna Lee Long and Ethel Marie Corbett.
He is survived by his first wife, Maria S. Surface, his three children: Anthony Eugene Surface, his wife Alicia Munoz Surface, their children Anthony Gabriel Surface, Jr., Alyssa Mariah Surface, of Tomball, Texas. His daughter, Teresa Surface Forestieri, her husband, Gregory Forestieri, their children Andrew N. Forestieri, his wife Harmony Forestieri, and Monica C. Forestieri, of Houston, Texas. His daughter, Carmen Magdalena Kelly, her son, John Stephen Kelly, Jr, of New Caney, Texas. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Linda Parrott Surface of Springfield, Missouri. He is survived by numerous nephews and nieces and their families, along with a host of many friends.
He is survived by his wife Simona Medrano Surface. They were married on November 7, 1986 . He is survived by his step children Jose Antonio Soliz, Maria Casanova, Lus Clinton, Lupe De Leon, Esther Davis, Priscilla Cabrera, Javier Soliz, Lolly Soliz, Patricia Loredo, Sandra Chapa as well as 21 step-grandchildren.
Clarence Maurice Surface went to Burbank Jr. High, Jeff Davis High School, and Houston Vocational School, and North Harris County College. He worked in the areas of Painting (the ceiling of the Astrodome was one of his masterpieces), Sales and Real Estate most of his life. He enjoyed Ham Radio, drawing and music. He was adept in learning different languages, studying Mandarin Chinese, German, among others. His consummate love of linguistics resulted in fluency of Spanish. He enjoyed a good laugh and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many.
He continued his love of life and thirst for knowledge. He had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Mexico all while embracing and absorbing the culture. Though he never traveled to any other country, he was a walking encyclopedia of literature and world history. He enjoyed family gatherings and a variety of of music genre; he had a collection of European classical, Mexican traditional music but on the long car rides he often enjoyed listening to 60's Folk music by Cat Stevens, Simon and Garfunkel. He often reminisced of his youth and love for dancing (He was in fact a very good dancer). Though he met and became part of the Medrano family later in his life, he will always be remembered and appreciated for his generosity and compassion for others.
