He graduated from Austin High School in Houston, Texas. Shortly after starting his career as a machinist, he met and married the love of his life, Lillian Nell Burke Elkins on June 19, 1959.
Claud was a very generous and humble man. He loved spending his time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous family and friends. Most importantly, he loved Jesus with all his heart.
Claud is preceded in death by his parents Claud Henry Elkins, Sr. and Lora Elkins; sisters, Rosie Taylor, Lora Ogg, Henrietta Lay and Clauddean Cowey.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 63 years Lillian Nell Elkins of Houston, Texas; sons, Tommy Elkins and wife Tammy of Kyle, Texas, David Elkins and wife Kristine of Houston, Texas, Steve Elkins of Humble, Texas and daughter Karen Merritt and husband Tommy of Humble, Texas; grandsons, Phillip Elkins and wife Jackie of Kyle, Texas, Jason Elkins of Kyle, Texas, Blake Elkins and wife Michelle of Huffman, Texas, Jacob Merritt of Humble, Texas and Phillip Merritt of Portland, Oregon; granddaughter, Emily Elkins of New Caney, Texas; great granddaughters, Addison Elkins and Isabella Elkins of Kyle, Texas as well as numerous family members and friends.
A visitation for Claud will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 beginning at 1:30 PM with funeral service to follow and begin promptly at 2:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. Interment to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
