

Claudia Mae Moore, 76, died in Houston, Texas after a short illness. She passed in her sleep on August 3, 2013. Ms. Claudia Mae Moore was born in Crockett, Texas on April 28, 1937. Claudia was born fourth daughter of seven & fifth in family of eight. Claudia was married briefly in her early years & unfortunately lost the one son born of this union while he was still an infant. Ms. Moore attended elementary school in Germany Community & high school in Crockett, Texas. She attended the College of Medical Assistants for Nurse*s Aide Certification, St Anthony Center for Orientation Therapy, Baylor College of Medicine Center for Allied Health Development, The University of St. Thomas & Houston Community College where she received certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. An avid reader, Ms. Moore could be found reading on a daily basis on a wide variety of subjects. Before her death, she attempted to move into the new millennium by embarking on a personal educational mission to learn how to use computer programs. Claudia spent four decades in domestic services but also acquired training in vocational nursing & cosmetology. Ms. Moore worked for twelve years in the household of Ben Proler & another twenty four in the home of Joyce Schechter & family. Claudia is remembered by many sons & daughters of both families as one of the best caregivers in the state. She also spent nine years as a Nursing Aide at St. Anthony Center. Claudia Moore spent the majority of her life in Houston, but never abandoned her home town of Crockett, the place of her birth & family homestead. Claudia was fortunate to visit many states with families, served as a domestic caregiver & was fortunate to travel to the Bahama Islands ten years ago. Ms. Moore was known as the *family hub* for the entire Moore family. There were few who did not spend time at her home at some point in her life. She was an avid gardener raising an assortment of flowers, plants, fruits & vegetables at her home shared regularly with family & neighbors. Ms. Moore is survived by five sisters, Lee Ethel Moore, Mamie L. Edwards, Eula May Wingham, Helen Kay Moore and Melvine; nieces & nephews: Herman Curvey, Charles L. Moore Jr., Melinda Dightman, Lisa Houston, Kathy White Bailey, Jeffrey White, Henry Wingham, Barbara Wingham, Doris Kay Wingham, Claudette Wingham, Rochelle Feast and Nicole Feast-Williams. She will be missed by a host of grand & great-grand nephews and nieces. Two others had lifelong relationships with Ms. Moore that the family wishes to acknowledge, Jennifer & Leslie Schechter. Ms. Moore was preceded in death by her father Stanley Moore, mother Marylena Moore & her younger sister Clarabelle Houston. Giving uncommon care was the common thread that linked every day of Ms. Moore*s life as a domestic caregiver, Nurse*s Aide, friend, sister & beloved aunt.
