

Mr. Nichols was born December 1, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and went to be with his savior on November 23, 2015. He grew up in Tulsa and was an Eagle Scout. He attended Tulsa Central High School, graduating in 1956. Following High School, he attended the University of Tulsa and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics in 1961. While at the University, he became a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He taught Mathematics in Tulsa, Oklahoma for one year, and then joined Shell Oil Company of Houston, Texas where he worked for 35 years. He retired in 1997. After retiring, he and his beloved wife, Carolyn, split their time between their Houston home and their ranch near Centerville, Texas, until they sold the ranch in 2006. Clay authored a book, “The Sermon on the Mount: A Concise Study for the Serious Student”. He was a founding member of Southwest Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Houston, Texas where he served for many years as an active Elder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iva and Otto Nichols. He is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn; children, Karen Wood of Silverado, CA. Kristen Melton of Broken Arrow, OK. Rebekah Wootan and husband Jeff of Houston, TX. And Melissa Smith and husband Cliff of Katy, TX. Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy McCann of Dallas TX.
There will be a visitation on Friday November 27, 2015 from five O’clock in the evening until Eight O’clock at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Funeral services will commence the following morning in the Chapel at Forest Park Westheimer beginning at 10:am. With Reverend David Wakeland of Southwest Presbyterian Church (PCA) officiating. Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer cemetery.
