Clementine Juliet Romeo Genitempo, known to her family and friends as Juliet, passed away at the age of 88 on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Medical Center, in Houston, Texas. Juliet, a rare native Houstonian, was born at St. Joseph Infirmary in downtown Houston on August 5, 1935, and lived a long and loving life in Houston.
Juliet was a beautiful lady, inside and out, and dearly loved by her large family and many friends. In her early days, she was a graduate of St. Agnes Academy and voted Most Beautiful at St. Agnes. She soon thereafter was named Queen of the Bay and met her husband of 70 years, Joseph Genitempo Jr., a dashing young Seafood business owner and avid sailboat racer on Galveston Bay. They married at St. Ann Catholic Church on June 27, 1953. As they began their family, Juliet’s cooking, child rearing, and beauty showed through again as she won the Mrs. Houston contest in 1967. Juliet was later a member of the Houston Junior Forum. Juliet was clever and ambitious, growing her skills into a very accomplished interior designer and decorator business Designs By Juliet, LLC that she ran with help from her daughter Lisa. Juliet had exquisite interior design taste using bright colors with an Old South charm and tasteful antiques style that won her many happy interior design customers who often became friends. Juliet was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church for many years, and in her later years, a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
Even though she was a busy lady, “Grammy” always had time for love and fun with her affectionate grandchildren and the whole extended family and friends. She deeply enjoyed the family meals and gatherings on Holidays, and often Sundays in the earlier years. Juliet is survived by her husband Joseph Genitempo, Jr., and her younger sister Charlotte Romeo Miller, her son Greg and wife Kris Genitempo, her daughter Lisa Genitempo Adams and husband Leon Adams, her son Mark and wife Mindy Mayfield Genitempo, and her son Jeff Genitempo. Grammy’s loving grandchildren are many…Drew Genitempo and wife Alexia, Matt Genitempo and wife Ada, Kathryn Adams Hui and husband John Hui, Connor Adams, Kristyn Mayfield Grapperhaus, Andrew Genitempo and wife Nancy, Christopher Genitempo, Kennedy Mayfield, William Genitempo and two great grandchildren, Vaughan Grapperhaus and Abigail Mayfield, and many nieces and nephews. We all will miss her but are comforted by knowing that she is no longer in pain and has moved on to be with her savior Jesus Christ.
Visitation service for Juliet Genitempo is on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7pm in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 11 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11620 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, Texas 77024 with a reception to follow in the Community Center.
