

Sister Cleo was born in Grand Cane, Louisiana on July 16, 1936 to Idella and Arthur Mayweather. She was the third child of five born to the union. She learned the values of hard work through working on the family farm. Sister Cleo accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend L. J. Mayweather at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Grand Cane, Louisiana.
Sister Cleo graduated from Desoto High School in Mansfield, Louisiana in 1955. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Houston, Texas, where she resided till she passed on to be with the Lord. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital in the laundry department for 28 years. She received many outstanding awards. After retirement, she pursued a career embracing her love of children, working at Loving Care Daycare in Houston, Texas.
Sister Cleo loved the Lord and fellowshipping which led her to become a member of Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church, She was a member of Greater Love for over 35 years, recently becoming the Mother of the Church. She gained joy from working with people, tending to her beautiful yard, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Sister Cleo married and is preceded in death by husband Jeremiah Woodley. Three children were born of the union, Carolyn Kemp, Frederick Woodley, and Barbara Woodley Mayo. She nurtured three nephews Don Earl, Bobby Ray, and Sean Preston. Along with caring for three great-nephews Cameron, KeSean, and Nickolas Preston as her own.
She transitioned to be with the Lord on March 22, 2025 at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Arthur and Idella Mayweather, husband, Jeremiah Woodley, sisters, Ola Mae Mayweather Green and Annie L. Mayweather Green, brother Sylvester Mayweather, and grandson Mason Ryan Mayo.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sister Ollie Mayweather Preston (Houston, Texas), children Carolyn Woodley Kempon (Adrian) (Houston, Texas), Frederick Woodley (Martha) (Grand Cane, Louisiana), Barbara Woodley Mayo (Frank) (Humble, Texas), grandchildren, Andrea N. Kemp (Austin, Texas), Marcus E. Mayo (Humble, Texas), and Joshua D. Ealy Sr. (Grand Cane, Louisiana), great-grandchildren, Kennedy Mayo, Mariah Mayo, Myles Mayo, McKenzie Mayo, Joshua D. Ealy Jr., and Jahlee Ealy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
