Ms. Cleola Elaine Sanders Walker, born on November 21, 1934, in Richards, TX, peacefully departed this world on January 8, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late AC Sanders and the late Adean Kerl Moore. Ms. Walker’s educational journey led her through the public schools of Grimes County, culminating in her graduation from Richards High School. Her early commitment to Christ led her to become a devoted member of St. Thomas Methodist Church.
On March 23, 1960, Ms. Walker entered into holy matrimony with the late Rev. Edwin Paul Walker. Their union was blessed with two children, and although Rev. Walker preceded her in death on June 28, 2001, the impact of their love endured. Ms. Walker found solace in her faith community and shared her musical talents at Mt. Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Hempstead, TX, as well as Greater First Baptist Church in Anderson, Texas, where her husband served as a steadfast pastor. For many years, she served as the Minister of Music at Antioch Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Richards, and Center Hill Primitive Baptist Church. In the later years of her life, she faithfully attended New Faith Church in Houston,Texas.
A distinguished educator, Ms. Walker earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Texas Southern University and later achieved her Master of Science degree in Education from Prairie View A&M University. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Her dedicated 48-year career as a teacher spanned across the Richards, North Forest, and Waller Independent School Districts. Ms. Walker’s profound love for education left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students
and colleagues.
Ms. Cleola Walker is preceded in death by her father, mother, sister Lovell Randall, and daughter Kimberly Walker-White. Her enduring legacy lives on through her surviving family members; daughter, Vanessa Miller; son-in-law, Kenneth Miller; grandchildren, Keith White, Kaylon White, Kennedy Miller,
Karly Miller, and Kenneth D. Miller Jr. She is also remembered by; her brother-in-law, Charles
Walker (Addie); sisters-in-law, Nancy Walker Ashley (Billy), Daisy Walker and Johnie Walker; the Sanders family; special son, Eddie Jessie; and a multitude of cherished family and friends. May her beautiful life
be eternally cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
