Clinton, 89, lived an extraordinary life filled with great memories of family, friends, professional achievements, and personal accomplishments. Known for his generosity, adventurous spirit, loyalty, determination, and absolute dedication to family; Clinton personified the word blessed.
As a teen, he began his lifelong professional career working as a sheet metal apprentice for W.R. Etie, which later became Gowan Sheet Metal after his father purchased the company. Clinton often shared many wonderful stories and life lessons learned from his childhood and was a proud Eagle Scout. He graduated from John H. Reagan High School in Houston in 1953.
Clinton married Vivian Eileen Turner March 10, 1956 in Houston, TX. In May 1959, he graduated with a BS in Psychology from the University of Houston. He proudly worked alongside his father and brother (Damon) at Gowan, growing the company into one of the largest sheet metal/mechanical contractor companies in Houston, and continued there until his retirement, December 2015.
During his career, he served as president of the Houston Sheet Metal Contractors Association 1978 -1979, President of Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association 1985-1986, and was inducted into the SMACNA College of Fellows in 1986. He served as Trustee for Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Industry Fund of the United States 2002-2006 and as President of Mechanical Contractors Association of Houston 2006.
Clinton was an avid Cougar alumnus, golfer, and card player. But his favorite pastime was spending time with family at their East Texas cattle ranch, affectionately named for his grandchildren, “The Little g Ranch”.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother, and young daughter.
