After an arduous battle with cancer, Clinton Burl Johnson, died on August 12, 2019, at his home in Humble, TX, at the age of 65. He leaves behind his wife, Teresa Conley Johnson; his daughters, Amy and Sarah and son-in-law Jaime Sanchez

Clinton was born on August 15, 1953 in Dayton, TX, to Donald Drue Johnson and Sarah Eloise Cole Johnson, who predeceased him, in death. He grew up with his brothers Vern Allen and Jay Dean in Crosby, TX. After graduating from high school, he met his life long partner, Teresa, at the age of 18. In 1976, at the age of 22, they married in Highlands, TX at St. Jude’s Catholic Church.

Clinton was driven by his passion for firefighting and firefighting apparatus. He was a volunteer fireman for the Crosby Volunteer Fire Department from 1969-1985. After completing his fire certification at the Texas A&M Fire Academy, he began working for the City of Humble as one of the first 3 full time firefighters, in 1985. While working as a firefighter, he continued his life long passion by restoring antique fire trucks and collecting fire truck memorabilia. His greatest joy came from driving his fire trucks in the Parade of Lights in Downtown Humble, Galveston Mardi Gras, Houston St. Patrick’s Day, whisking away newlywed firefighters and their new spouses, and celebrating children’s birthday parties with a ride around the neighborhood.

Clinton was a member of Humble First United Methodist Church, SPAAMFAA - Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Motorized Firefighting Apparatus of America Gulf Coast Chapter, and the Bluebonnet Tractor Club.

Clinton is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Crystal Johnson and dozens of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Brookside Funeral Home from 6PM to 9PM and all are welcome. A celebration of life will be held at the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center, located at 611 Higgens Street in Humble, on Monday, August 19th, 2019, at 10:00am. A private burial will be held immediately following the funeral at the Schlobohm Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to Humble FireFighter Association c/o Humble Fire Rescue, 108 West Main St., Humble, TX 77338. These funds will be used for firefighter cancer prevention.
