
Mr. Clinton Ray Pylate passed away May 2, 2017. He was born November 30, 1934 in Gladewater, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton H. Pylate of Gladewater, and his mother, Mildred Dailey Pylate Rawls, of Baytown; and by his grandparents, Joseph Clinton Dailey and Ethyl Ray Dailey, also of Baytown. Others predeceased include uncles & aunts including Robert L, and Melba Dailey Laird of Dayton, TX.
A sister, Dianne Rawls Davis, of Taos, New Mexico, a cousin, Robert J. Laird of Dahlonega, GA., and several other cousins of the High Island area, survive Mr. Pylate.
Mr. Pylate graduated Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1953, attended Lee College, Baylor University and graduated from the Visual Arts institute at Carmel-by-the-Sea.
He served in the United States Army during the post-Korean / pre-Viet Nam era. He was an accomplished vocalist and a self-employed professional photographer both in New Orleans and Baytown for a number of years.
A member of the Church of God, he was an ardent follower of the late Ron L. Dart.
He loved watching nature through his picture window, riding in convertibles, and was an avid Star Trek and Highlander fan. In his later years he eagerly anticipated his glass of wine, good food and great company with loyal friends each Thanksgiving, and other special occasions, and periodic visits with his sister and family in Granbury.
All those fortunate enough to share his world and his company will sorely miss him.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Brookside Memorial Garden, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX.
