Clyde Bethel Loan Jr.

Clyde Bethel Loan Jr, He was known as Clyde, Clyde Bethel, CB, Bones, Deacon, Dad, Daddy, and Pappaw. Born in Rusk, Texas on August 25, 1931 to Clyde B. Loan Sr and Leona Rogers Loan. He spent his High School years in Houston, Texas graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in 1949.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 serving with the Screaming Monkeys of VF-33 onboard the USS Midway CV-41. He was Honorably discharged in 1954.

He married Norma Jean Evans on September 18, 1954. They had three children: Sheryl Loan Ross, Karen Loan Gunay, and Richard Loan. They enjoyed 7 grandchildren (Bill, Thom, Becky, Kristin, Brittany, Kadriye, & Orry), and 12 great grandchildren.

Clyde loved working in the Natural Gas Compressor business in the Permian Basin. He started off as a draftsman and learned the business to the point of being a highly respected Gas Compressor expert. After multiple returns from retirement, he finally fully retired in 2005.

Throughout his life, Clyde’s Christian faith remained central to who he was. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and served his churches faithfully. At various times he served as Chairman of the Deacons at Baptist churches in Houston, Odessa, and College Station. His faith was not something reserved for Sunday mornings. He truly “walked the walk.”

Visitation will be held at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 7010 Chetwood, Houston, TX 77081, on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am.
