Cody Martin, 73 of Katy, TX passed away August 2, 2021 surrounded by his wife & daughters. Born on November 27, 1947 in Carlsbad NM, he was the son of Louise & the late Wayland Martin. He is survived by his wife Kala Leger Martin of 41 years, daughters, Courtney Marek (Myles) and Kelly Ward (Nathan), and loving grandchildren, Kalob Ward, Bayleigh, Hudson & Madelyn Marek.
Cody was raised in South Houston and graduated from South Houston High School in 1966. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Technology from the University of Houston. He was a material estimator for K Hovnanian Homes/Brighton Homes for 17 years. He worked in the home building industry for most of his life. He was a member of the Wallis American Legion Post 200 and a strong supporter of Disabled Veterans.
Cody was a proud American Air Force Veteran that served his country in an overseas assignment in Ubon, Thailand during the Vietnam War. They supported F-4’s and C-130 gunships that flew missions in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as an E4-Sgt. He enjoyed perfecting his aim at the gun range on weekends and was quite the marksman. He was an avid coin collector and could often be found tinkering in his shop and garage. He was a dedicated, hard-working man that did everything he could to provide for his wife and daughters. To most, Cody had a quiet demeanor, but really enjoyed joking with those closest to him and giving them a hard time. He loved spending time with his family; watching his daughters, son-in-laws and grandkids open Christmas gifts he wrapped and sealed ever so tightly was one of his greatest joys. Cody instilled his strong Christian values in his family and was such an unselfish, patient, thoughtful and loving man. He always led the prayer before family meals and would start with “Most gracious Heavenly Father.” Those words he once used to describe our Lord and Savior now describes him; our gracious Heavenly father, husband, Papa, son, relative and friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made in Cody’s honor to the Disabled American Veterans organization. https://www.dav.org/
