

She graduated from Dickinson High School in 1970 and attended Baylor University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree in 1974 and was immediately employed by Houston Veterans Hospital as an RN. During her 40-year career she served as a Head ER Nurse at Houston Northwest Hospital and as a Nursing Supervisor at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Colette was a very caring and loved working in pediatrics and the ER. She was a kind, loving sister and aunt, very gracious, and a very devout Christian. She will be missed by all. Colette was predeceased by her parents Blake and Barbara Slocum. Colette is survived by her brother Tommy Blake Slocum and wife Susan, nephew Tommy B. Slocum Jr., nieces Deanne Zaleski, Traci Huss and husband Adam, and many cousins.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7th in the Family Room at Brookside Funeral Home, with a graveside service officiated by Brad Goad of Second Baptist Church, following the visitation at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to "Second Loves Kids" at Second Baptist Church Houston in memorial was requested. The family would like to thank Ms. Leslie McWilliams of Laramie, Wyoming for the loving care and skilled nursing that she provided during Colette's last years.
