

Concepcion graduated from Escuela Moderna de Comercio para Senoritas in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and received a Diploma de Contadora de Comercio in 1951. She met Florencio Salinas in Monterrey, where they both worked for the Servicio Postal Mexicano. They married on March 31, 1959. After their marriage, she resigned from her post as secretary to the Postmaster General in Monterrey to move to Houston with her husband, Florencio, to start a family and a new life in the US. Upon arriving in Houston in 1959, she formed a large group of friends who became a supportive network since she was far from her immediate family in Mexico. These women provided mutual support throughout their lives. She also loved selling her Stanley cleaning products to her friends and attending Stanley sales conventions across the US.
Concepcion was preceded in death by her husband, Florencio Salinas; parents, Arnulfo Leyva and Paula Castillo; and siblings, Micaela Leyva, Dolores Levya Gonzalez, and Juan Antonio Leyva.
She is survived by her four loving children, Martha Olga Bello and husband Hector, Homer J. Salinas, Elizabeth Salinas Benavides and husband Arnold, Mireya Salinas Santos and husband Angel; seven grandchildren, Leo, Alec and wife Michelle, Michael, Jacob, Lucas, Marissa, Nicolas; one granddaughter-in-law, Nadia Bello; four great-grandchildren, Leslie, Liliana, Leo and Camila; as well as numerous friends and other family members.
She enjoyed dancing with her husband, cooking, traveling with her family, selling her Stanley Home Products, talking with her friends, and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
Concepcion was known for her positive and optimistic nature. She was a great role model to her children and grandchildren, always radiating a bright and positive spirit. She was truly one of a kind. Concepcion was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Concepcion will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A graveside service will occur Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
