Connie will be remembered with love for her warmth, generosity, and engaging personality.
She was born in Houston, Texas, on December 14, 1945, and adopted by Aldina and Marshall Hibbler. Connie attended River Oaks Elementary, Lanier Junior High, and Lamar High School, where she was an active member of the Choralettes and made many lifelong friends. She went on to study early childhood education at the University of Houston, where she was an officer of Delta Gamma and elected golf princess.
Connie met the love of her life, William Powell Knight, a student at Rice University, in 1963. They met at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, where they would marry in June 1965. They began their 58 years of marriage as Bill began medical school at Baylor College of medicine, and Connie continued her education and worked for a time in support of the Head Start program.
Connie and Bill soon started their own family, welcoming a daughter and son. They made their home together in Houston Texas after a brief two years out of state while Bill served as a Captain in the US Army. She actively participated in projects at her children’s schools, enjoyed her tenure as a Bayou Bend docent, and was involved in the community of Chapel Hill, Texas for many years. Connie lived for her family and was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Aldina Reuter Hibbler, and Marshall Edward Hibbler. She is survived by her loving husband, William Powell Knight, her children Marci Knight Collier and William Powell Knight, Jr. and spouse Angele Peterson Knight, and her grandsons, Will Collier and Liam Knight.
Arrangements for a celebration of her life are pending.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Citizens for Animal Protection in Houston, Texas.
