Corine B. Hawkins

Corine Bogany Hawkins, daughter of the Late R.B. and Marie Bogany, was born in Goodrich, TX. She grew up in Goodrich where at an early age she accept Christ as her personal savior and was baptized and united with New Hope Baptist Church of Goodrich, TX. She attended Dunbar High School and played basketball. She later moved to Houston, TX where she united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church on Gray (40 years). She served as the Young Adult Sunday School Teacher. She was active in BTU, Senior Choir and Mission II. She munited in marriage to Rev. Pete Hawkins in 1987. They later moved to Christian Home Missionary Baptist Church. Corine united by Christian experience. She served as an Assistant Teacher of the Young Adult Class, General Mission –one of three teachers and Esther Circle. She was a faithful member until her health began to fail.

Corine was truly a servant of Jesus Christ. She believed that her focus was to reach beyond the walls and witness for Christ. She loved participating in Street Ministry, Read & Share Ministry, and was a member of the Religious Tract Team. She spent countless hours volunteering. She was Assistant Chaplin, Harris County Jail (Weekly Ministry to Female Inmates), Weekly Bible Class (Golden Age Hobby House) and worked with North Side Mission Support Group. Other involvements include, Corresponding Secretary for Mission Two (Lincoln District) and Recording Secretary for The Baptist Sisterhood of Houston.

For over 30 years, Corine worked as a Property Manager and Supervisor of Conventional and HUD owned properties, located in Houston and surrounding areas. She also had the opportunity to work closely with the Houston Housing Authority, and The Houston Apartment Association. She was also the Co-CEO of P&H Mechanical Services.

Corine carried herself with grace and dignity. She was always ready to uplift, share and encourage others. Her beautiful smile and kind words were always there for others. She always had a listening ear, and open heart. To the world, she was known as “Corine” but to her family she was known as “Lumpy”.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents R.B. and Marie Bogany. Both of her brothers, R.B. Bogany Jr., and Eugene Bogany Sr., and their wives Rosalie Bogany and Shirley Bogany, also her grand-dog Moochie.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: Her loving husband Rev. Pete Hawkins, her loving daughter Rose Eagleton, her favorite Son in-law Rev. Ronald Eagleton, and her son Scottie J. Hawkins, step son/daughters Danny (Valerie) Doucette, Charlene (Anthony) Gage and Beatrice (Corry) Traylor, her cherished grandsons Jarrod M. (Anjelica) Allen, Antonio Gage and 13 more grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her nieces and nephew Sheron, Annette and Gene (Tamika) Bogany also many other cousins, extended family and friends.

Corine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, devoted grandmother, aunt, cousin, a faithful church member, and a true friend to many. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith touched countless lives. She was truly a women of God. She gave freely, served selflessly and lived a life that reflected God’s grace.Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. Father, we thank You for the life of Corine B. Hawkins. Please comfort us as we do our best to honor your will.
