Courtney Faye Cherry was born on December 22, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Sarah Hughes and Michael Cherry. She was blessed to be Brittany Robbins’ little sister, and they were so inseparable that their names were always mentioned as one. Courtney made friends easily, and was known for her quiet exuberance and loving spirit. With her quick wit, dry humor, and love for family and social gatherings, Courtney was a young woman with whom everyone felt welcome, appreciated, and thankful to be in such good company.
After moving with her family to Houston, Texas in 2005, Courtney matriculated through middle school before graduating from Chester W. Nimitz High School in 2011. Courtney attended Prairie View A&M University and was one semester shy of earning her Bachelor’s degree in Communications. She planned to pursue a career in media broadcasting and film productions, and she looked forward to continued development of her talents and skills in her many areas of interest.
Courtney enjoyed writing, movies, and music. Most of all Courtney enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was beloved by all who knew her and always had a kind word for everyone in her midst. Her beautiful presence will be missed by all, and the memory of her infectious smile will be forever held dear.
Courtney is survived by her mother, Sarah Hughes, her step-father, Kenneth Hughes, her sister, Brittany Robbins, and her brother, Kenneth Hughes, Jr.. She is also survived by her father Michael Cherry, her uncles and aunts, Alfred Benoit, Edward Bardlett, and Michelle Bardlett, Denise Bardlett, and Cicely Benoit, her cousins Daniel Benoit, Darren Benoit, NaKandice Bardlett, Michael Bardlett, Katherine Bardlett, Amber Bardlett and a host of other cousins, great aunts and uncles, family, friends and loved ones.
