Creighton M. Buie

Creighton Middleton Buie, Sr. (Mid) passed away on November 12, 2011. He was survived by his wife, Margaret Jane Buie, for only two days. Married for 70 years, it seemed as if Jane would not live without him.

Mid Buie was born July 30, 1918 in Mertens, Texas and Jane was born in Waco, Texas, three years later, September 22, 1921. Jane’s boss introduced her to Mid, who was his nephew. Jane was dating someone else at the time, but she soon changed her mind. Mid and Jane got married September 30, 1941 just before Pearl Harbor.

Mid joined the “Houston Volunteers” of the Army Air Corps at Ellington Air Force Base. The air corps recognized Mid’s administration skills and quickly had him processing the newer recruits. Jane followed Mid across the country to various electronics and radio schools in preparation for B17 bomber crew duty but fortunately, the war ended just before he was deployed overseas.

Mid and Jane were excellent parents who loved their family above all else. They built a warm, fun family which created many memories and stories to be passed down to their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed their many friends at Terrace Methodist Church (since 1954), square dancing and Motor Home camping clubs. Being a loyal employee, Mid worked 45 years at Curtin Scientific. Mostly, the family remembers family times where there was much laughter, joking and love.

Mid and Jane are survived by their two sons, Creighton Buie, Jr. who is married to Jane Buie and Tommy Buie, married to Caroline Buie. Their grandchildren are Wendy Leak (Husband Kyle), Katie Hall, Creighton Buie and Rebecca Buie. Their great grandchildren are Caylie Howard, Colton Howard and Bella Hall. Of their family members, Jane would often make the statement, “We have such a great family. Lucky, lucky us.”

Friends are encouraged to attend the dual memorial service at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024 (South side of I-10 near Wirt Road) on Friday, November 25th, 2011 at 11:00 AM. A light reception will follow.
