Cynthia Funderburke Jones entered into rest on November 4, 2022. Survived by her loving husband Jerry Jones, her nephews Aaron Funderburke and Andrew Jones, nieces Stefanie Funderburke, Brittney Funderburke and Sara Davison, and grandnephew and niece, Jason Funderburke and Juliana Davison.
Cynthia was lovingly known by her nieces and nephews as “Ada.” She loved to cook and feed all of her children and anyone who came to visit. Her chicken and dumplings are unrivaled and she perfected the homemade flour tortillas using her husband’s family recipe. She was a gracious hostess and loved hosting family and friends for the holidays.
Cynthia was a devout Catholic and served as the past Regent of the Catholic Daughters Court 234 of Our Lady of Victory Co-Cathedral and was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court St. Jane Frances de Chantal #2699 of St. Anthony of Padua. She also served as a spiritual director at St. Anthony of Padua in Woodlands, TX. Among her many talents, Cynthia was also a renowned quilter with a quilt that received recognition and was entered into the Texas Quilt Hall of Fame. Cynthia was a fabulous musician having graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, she earned a Bachelors degree in music education from North Texas State University. She played several instruments including, the saxophone, clarinet, flute and piano.
Cynthia’s strength was unmatched as she fought cancer for the past year and a half. Through the battle, she was always upbeat, positive and had unwavering faith. She was an example for her family on what it looks like to truly serve her family and be a Servant of the Lord.
