Cyrus attended George Washington Carver High School in the Aldine District. Deciding to serve his country he enlisted April of 1968 in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. During this tour he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert M-14 Rifle Recognition. Returning to sullivan life from the U. S. Army April of 1971 with honorable discharge.
Cyrus married the love of his life Dianna Scott on September 22, 1973, forty-seven years until the Lord called him home. To this union two wonderful sons were born Marty Andrews and Brian Andrews.
Cyrus was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Myrtle Andrews; sisters Evelyn Smith, Judy Koontz and brother Walter Andrews (Teeny).
Left to cherish his memories his devoted wife Dianna; sons Marty Andrews, Brian Andrews; four great loves, his grandchildren Crystal Andrews, Marty Andrews Jr., Christopher Andrews, Michael Andrews; Siblings Joyce Gilmore, Kenneth Andrews, Harold Andrews(Margie); brother-in-laws Eddy Walker, Alvin(Annie) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and acquaintances.
