A celebration of his life will be held in Houston, Texas at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at noon.
Dale was born August 26, 1927 in Kandyohi, Minnesota to Ruben and Mabel Hauck. As a boy, Dale became an Eagle Scout and was captain of his High School basketball team. Following high school, Dale enlisted in the Navy to become a pilot. After his release from the Navy, he helped survey Alaska, living in the wilds of Alaska for six months. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Mines with a degree in Geology, and began his career as an exploration geologist with Texaco. When working in Colorado, Dale met and married Elizabeth Cole in 1957. He expressed his love for Elizabeth for the next 62 years. Together, Dale and Elizabeth nurtured their family, encouraging education, excellence, independence, a love of the outdoors and travel. He always had a place in his heart and his home for the antics of a big mischievous dog.
Dale enjoyed his work as a geologist, excelling in the management of exploration, holding several vice-presidential positions through his career. Outside of work, Dale enjoyed tennis, the Texas Gulf Coast, woodworking, gardening, and being with his children, grandchildren and his lovely wife, Elizabeth (Buff). Together, they traveled the world.
Dale is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and his three daughters, Margaret Mary Hauck of Houston, Susan Elizabeth Lockard and her husband Bert Lockard of Dallas, and Allison Hauck Wheeler of Dallas, and his grandchildren Sydney Ann Wheeler, Bailey Elizabeth Wheeler, Katherine Grace Lockard, and Cole Austin Lockard.
His love, laughter, and generosity will be dearly missed by all.
