Damon P. Moore

Funeral Services for Damon P. Moore, 92 of New Caney, Texas will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 2:00PM at Brookside Funeral Home in the Family Chapel. The Family will receive friends and guest during visitation hours of 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM on the same day.

Damon was born September 2, 1931 in Cass County, Texas to George Walker and Linnie Mae Poe Moore and passed away December 5, 2023 at his home. Damon graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas. He served in the U.S Army, serving in Germany. He retired from Monsanto and Sterling Chemical in 1997. After retirement, he worked several years as a security guard for Brookside Memorial Park.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George W. Moore and Linnie Mae Leonard, his bonus father, Weldon C. Leonard, sister, Jean Moore Thomas, brother, Thomas J. Moore and his wife Jean.

He leaves behind his wife of over 70 years, Mary J. Moore; daughter, Vanessa Nixon, sons, Perry Moore and wife Genie; and Gerry D. Moore and his wife Teresa, Son-in-law, James B. Hare, Daughter-in-law, Debbie Hare. As well as 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; 6 great- great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You!” to our lifelong “bonus sister” Judy Robertson Shafer for all the love, support and kindness she has shown during this difficult time.
