Danetta Rae Smith, 83, of Houston, passed away August 6, 2021. She was born in Gulf Port Mississippi September 30, 1937. Danetta graduated from Orange Grove in Gulf Port. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone (Ma Bell) for traveling money, on her way to California she made a stop in Houston to spend time with her sister. In Houston, she met and married Woodrow C. Smith, Jr. They married on July 3, 1957. Danetta is preceded in death by daughters Donna Kay Smith, Denise Colette Smith, and Debbie Mirrer. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Woody, daughters Dianne, Deana and Deidre grandchildren Carrie, Dorothy, Alyssa, Allen, Amy, Tiffany, Steven, Heather, Daniel, and Coleman and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be at 2pm on August 13, 2021 at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
Danetta loved God, raising her kids, grand kids, great grandchildren, and kids that were brought home to her, she loved raising her vegetables, her cows, chickens, and flowers. She was fearless and was always up for an adventure any time of day or night.
