

Daniel Locke DelHomme Jr., 91, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 12, 2021 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loved ones. Dan was the son of Daniel Sr. and Joyzelle DelHomme and was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 6, 1930. He graduated from St. Thomas High School and later attended Rice University. After college, he worked for Ceco Steel and Brown and Root designing structural steel. One of his most significant projects was designing the steel reinforcing bars for the Astrodome. Dan married Billie Jean Habermehl in 1958 and they remained happily married raising four children until her passing in 1990. In his later years, he was remarried to Mary Lou Hartranft who was with him traveling and enjoying retirement for the past 15 years until he passed away. Dan loved to work around his house at 5739 Reamer in Houston, always updating a section here and adding a room there.
Dan was a strong lifelong Christian, attending Richmond Plaza Baptist Church in Bellaire where he served as a deacon and fellowshipped with friends for many years. Dan loved his family and friends and hosted numerous get togethers at his home. He loved to help people and his light showed through his service to others in the church and community. He lived a full life and is now living an even better life in a better place with those loved ones who preceded him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Billie, parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, his brother Richard, his children Steve and wife Sharon, Kimberley and husband Wayne, Mary, Robin and wife Sheila, grandchildren Renae, Michelle, Nicole, Bryce, Tara, Jenny, Adam, Alyssa, Joshua, Christopher, Bonnie, great-grandchildren Cameron, Emma, Cooper, Ocean, Luke, Gage, Noah, brother and sister in law, Mike and Judy Habermehl, nephews C.M. and Erich. A visitation will be held for Dan on Thursday, August 26th from 9am to 11am at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, a graveside service will be held from 11am to 11:30am for family. A memorial service will be held on the same day at 2 pm at Clarewood House, 7400 Clarewood Drive with Dr. Jeff Campbell officiating.
